  1. Hi Ryan. You make some great points in this reflection-definitely can hear that you have had some training and done some reflection on this topic before. I agree that the statistics can cause you to prejudge certain groups of people and cause one to jump to conclusion about the whole based upon the actions of a few. I think you experience through your patient care as well as with who you married (and sounds like a good family upbringing) may have quite a bit to do with your current views as you stated. Do you think you are "typical" of the person of your persuasion who lives in the South? Also, everyone has some kind of bias/prejudice and it doesn't make them a good or bad person, but it is important to acknowledge so that you can work to overcome it or seek to provide resources if you cannot engage. ~Dr. Shaw
